The General Counsel's Office is a valued, trusted and responsive partner within DTCC. The team promotes and protects the best interests of the DTCC family of companies by creating and facilitating solutions and providing guidance on legal and regulatory matters.

The Impact you will have in this role:
- Advise on complex legal and regulatory matters under English and EU law, providing clear, actionable guidance to business leaders
- Support DTCC's institutional trade processing business in advance of upcoming shortened settlement cycle transitions in UK and European markets
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, and recommend practical, client-focused solutions in partnership with legal colleagues in North America and APAC to deliver a unified and consistent legal strategy for DTCC's institutional trade processing business
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, including partnerships, consulting agreements, strategic initiatives and some vendor contracts (including leases, commercial contracts, governed by UK or European law) in partnership with legal colleagues in North America
- Partner with cross-functional teams—including Compliance, Risk, Regulatory Relations/Government Relations, Finance, and IT—to provide legal guidance and support for new business initiatives, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational objectives
- Work with other stakeholders to monitor and analyze regulatory changes and developments across the region, advising stakeholders on potential impacts and required actions
- Handle other routine corporate legal matters or ad-hoc projects or questions, as requested
- Advise on policies and procedures specific to the institutional trade processing business' activities in the UK
Qualifications:
- Qualified lawyer authorized to practice in the UK (e.g. solicitor or barrister with current practicing certificate for England and Wales)
- 8 to 15 years post-qualification experience (PQE) or equivalent
Talents Needed for Success:
- Experience advising clients in the financial services industry, ideally with experience working in a UK office of a North American financial institution
- Familiarity with regulations governing trade execution, matching, and settlement in the UK and Europe, as well as other current and emerging legal and regulatory issues impacting UK and European technology and financial services providers, generally
- Excellent judgment, strong drafting and substantive lawyering skills across the board
- Proven ability to engage effectively with EU and UK regulators (ESMA, FCA)
- Analytical and curious approach; desire to solve problems inside and outside of the legal area using the skills and experience of a lawyer to facilitate
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaboratively with lawyers and legal professionals at all levels, and to distill concepts into a format appropriate for non-lawyers
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, effectively manages multiple priorities under tight timelines and adapts to evolving legal and business challenges
