DSV is recruiting for a Team Lead within our Warehouses at Mercia Park, Thrapston. This role will be responsible for the operation of a section within the Warehouse function. Supporting the Management Team with the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, responsible for a group of operators and ensuring an efficient warehouse operation in achieving business targets. Provide line management to the team, coordinating workloads, supporting team delivery, monitoring issues, and ensuring KPIs and quality standards are met. Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, fostering a safety culture.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Assist in running an efficient warehouse operation to fulfill operational and customer demand and meet targets.
- Train new Warehouse operatives within area of responsibility.
- Ensure inventories are accurate and stock movements are recorded properly.
- Support stock takes and ensure systems are accurate and up to date.
- Identify system improvements and support issue resolution.
- Produce reports and support capacity planning.
- Maintain health and safety standards and ensure proper handling and maintenance of equipment.
- Maintain security and cleanliness in the warehouse environment.
- Act up for management when needed, covering leave and absence.
People Management
- Manage time and attendance, support people management issues, and communicate operational priorities.
- Report progress, achievements, and concerns to supervisors or managers.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport companies as required.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Engage with team members, contribute to team development, and uphold moral standards.
- Participate in grievance and disciplinary processes, monitor performance and absence, and conduct welfare meetings.
Experience
- Proven team leadership skills, with experience in supervising and motivating teams.
- Strong communication, IT skills, and understanding of warehouse systems.
- Analytical, numerical skills, and attention to detail.
- Understanding of customer deliverables and quality impact.
Skills and Competencies
- GCSEs Level A-C, NVQ Level 2, or equivalent qualifications.
- Warehouse qualification and certifications such as Dangerous Goods Handling are advantageous.
- Supervisory qualification and forklift license may be required.
- Knowledge of health, safety, security, and lean techniques beneficial.
