As Warehouse Manager, you will lead a busy cross-dock warehouse operation handling both domestic and international freight, ensuring freight moves safely, efficiently, and on time.

What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for the overall performance, safety, compliance, and efficiency of the warehouse operation.
  • Leading warehouse operations across day, evening, and night shift activities.
  • Ensuring freight is received, sorted, scanned, cross-docked, and dispatched accurately and on time.
  • Managing warehouse flow to maximise productivity and minimise operational delays.
  • Planning labour and resources in line with daily operational volumes.
  • Driving performance against key operational and service KPIs.
  • Leading, coaching, and developing a team of Warehouse Supervisors.
  • Creating a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Managing employee performance, attendance, development, and engagement.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, security, customs, and operational procedures.
  • Investigating incidents, service failures, and operational issues, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Working closely with Transport, Planning, Customer Service, Compliance, HR, and other key stakeholders.
  • Managing labour utilisation, overtime, agency spend, and operational costs.
  • Identifying and implementing operational improvement initiatives to improve productivity and service levels.
  • Supporting customer reviews, site visits, and operational projects.

About You

  • Strong operational leadership experience together with a passion for developing people and improving performance.
  • Proven experience managing a busy warehouse, freight, logistics, pallet network, or cross-dock operation.
  • Experience leading operational teams through frontline supervisors.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A good understanding of warehouse productivity and operational performance measures.
  • Experience managing labour resources, costs, and operational budgets.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Warehouse Management Systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A customer-focused and results-driven mindset.

It would be beneficial if you also have:

  • International freight experience.
  • Customs knowledge.
  • Lean, Continuous Improvement, or operational excellence experience.
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
  • CPC or other logistics-related qualification.
