With this exciting growth comes opportunity — and we’re looking for new talent to join us as an MHE Trainer in Northampton (Brackmills), Mon - Fri 08:00 - 16:00, must be flexible and be able to cover PM 14:00 - 22:00 when training is required.
The Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality training programs to new and existing operators of material handling equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The trainer will develop, implement, and assess training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of employees, promoting safe and efficient operation of MHE.
What will you be doing?
- Design and develop comprehensive training programs for various types of MHE, including forklifts, pallet jacks, cherry pickers, VNA and reach trucks.
- Deliver hands-on training sessions and classroom instruction to new hires and current employees.
- Ensure training materials are up-to-date and in line with current regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct practical assessments and written tests to evaluate trainees' competency.
- Issue certifications to operators who meet the required standards of proficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of training sessions and certifications.
- Ensure all training programs comply with UK health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Promote a culture of safety within the workplace through regular training and awareness sessions.
- Stay current with changes in safety regulations and update training programs accordingly.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make improvements as necessary.
- Gather feedback from trainees and managers to enhance training content and delivery methods.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in MHE technology and training techniques.
- Assist in the development of safe operating procedures and risk assessments for MHE use.
- Provide guidance and support to operators in resolving operational challenges.
- Conduct refresher training sessions to ensure ongoing competency and compliance.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on training activities, progress, and outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records, including attendance, assessments, and certifications.
- Ensure all training documentation is compliant with legal and company requirements.
About You
- Certified MHE trainer with recognised credentials (e.g., RTITB, ITSSAR, AITT RTITB preferred).
- Extensive experience operating various types of material handling equipment.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety regulations related to MHE.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and training software.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- The role involves working in a warehouse setting and classroom environment.
