Overview
In this senior legal leadership role, you will oversee the BENLUKIE region’s legal function, guiding an international team across the UK, Belgium, and the Netherlands. You’ll partner with senior business leaders to enable growth, manage risk, and ensure governance across multiple countries. You will shape strategic decisions, oversee commercial agreements, and coordinate external counsel while driving regional and global legal initiatives. This role offers meaningful impact in a global logistics business that values collaboration and transformation.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the BENLUKIE legal team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Provide strategic legal advice to commercial and operational stakeholders across multiple countries
- Serve as the primary legal business partner for senior stakeholders at country, cluster, regional, and global levels
- Oversee drafting, review, negotiation, and management of commercial agreements with customers, suppliers, and partners
- Advise on transportation, logistics, commercial, contract, and corporate legal matters
- Provide guidance on disputes, claims, litigation, and risk resolution strategies
- Manage and coordinate external legal counsel where required
- Support engagement with regulatory, governmental, and industry stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with DSV policies, governance frameworks, and applicable legislation
- Drive legal reporting and governance activities across the BENLUKIE Cluster
- Contribute to regional and global legal initiatives, transformation programmes, and strategic projects
Key requirements
- Qualified lawyer status in at least one BENLUKIE jurisdiction
- 8-10+ years of post-qualification in-house legal experience in an international environment
- Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, supply chain or similar industries
- Strong expertise in transportation and logistics law, commercial law, contract law, and/or corporate law
- Experience in both common law and civil law environments
- Proven leadership experience managing legal professionals in a multinational organisation
- Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Sound judgement, commercial awareness, balancing risk with business objectives
- Professional-level English; additional BENLUKIE languages (Dutch/Flemish) advantageous
