The Controller will ensure the efficient and compliant management of import operations within the automotive logistics sector, overseeing documentation, customs clearance, cargo movement, and financial accuracy. The role is central to maintaining smooth end-to-end processes, while delivering reliable client support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Oversight: manage and monitor logistics and supply chain activities specific to the automotive market.
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation: think outside the box to identify solutions that improve efficiency and reduce risk.

  • Capturing charges in CW1.
  • Tracking of shipments.
  • Following up and retrieving shipping documents after sailing from origin offices.
  • Engage origin offices and carriers regarding forwarding of shipments.
  • Registration of shipments on CW1.
  • Following up on carrier invoices and ANF's.
  • Checking vendor invoices and raising queries as required.
  • Opening shipment files and documents assembly.
  • Completing key updates and milestones in CW1.
  • Update and maintenance of lane specific rates monthly.
  • Shipment status reporting as required.
  • Assisting the client lead with ad hoc projects and reporting.
  • Processing ocean import quotes.
  • Meeting KPIs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in freight forwarding and controlling.
  • Matric (essential).
  • Advantageous to have industry-level qualification or tertiary qualification.
  • Computer packages: Office 365 (Teams, OneNote, Forms), MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Knowledge of current INCOTERMS 2010.
  • Knowledge of international logistics.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Previous direct client‑facing experience.
  • Automotive experience.
  • National Certificate in logistics and supply chain management.
