Transport Operator within the European Part & Full Load department. Purfleet. Monday to Friday: 09:00-17:00.
The successful candidate will have responsibilities involving and including all aspects related to the arrangement of transport for European Part Load and European full load transports to and from the UK. The person we are looking for must be self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high job quality as well as profit making.
Responsibilities- Export and import trailer planning of part load and full loads.
- Resolution of transport issues, to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
- Manage and improve supplier transport productivity by means of accurate planning, smart decision making and prompt issue resolution.
- Combining part loads to ensure the service level expected by customers are met, whilst ensuring the transports arranged are cost effective.
- Instructing and coordinating transport customs paperwork and procedures.
- Dealing with customs issues which may arise.
- Haulage sourcing, rate negotiating and assessing any subcontractors ensuring they are approved and fulfil any legal requirements.
- Communicating with drivers and hauliers.
- Ensure that the company operates within all agreed operational procedures, and within statutory requirements and legislative compliance including the provision and maintenance of a safe working environment.
- Arrange with approved hauliers for transport of cargo, confirm availability of equipment and agree prices where no tariff exists, to maximise cost effectiveness.
- Perform and correctly finalise general administration.
- Promote and maintain relationship with internal and external Partners, suppliers and clients to ensure a continual development of service and service levels.
- Calculate prices and internally quote movements based on and accounting for transport requirements.
- Good knowledge of the road freight industry and prior experience in international trailer planning.
- Excellent financial awareness.
