DSV Road is recruiting a Customs Assistant to support our International Import, Export and UK Domestic transport operations at our Purfleet depot. This is a key operational role within our Inland Clearance Depot, supporting customs clearance and transport coordination post EU.

Work schedule: Mon – Fri, rotating shift 6:00‑14:00/14:00‑22:00.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage international import, export and UK domestic inbound/outbound movements
  • Check import arrival documentation and create export clearance documentation
  • Process ETSF (Customs) clearances, ensuring HMRC documentation is accurate and compliant
  • Interface with HMRC systems to monitor and manage clearance status
  • Provide clear cargo release instructions to depots and transport teams
  • Communicate professionally with internal teams and external customers
  • Maintain accurate clearance records and system updates at all times
  • Ensure compliance with customs, transport and legislative requirements

  • Customs knowledge or experience is desirable but not essential
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using multiple systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
