Team Lead – Warehouse

DSV is recruiting for a Warehouse Team Lead in Mercia Park.

This role will be responsible for the operation of a section within the Warehouse function, supporting the Management Team with the day-to-day operations, managing a group of operators, and ensuring efficient warehouse operation to achieve business targets.

The Team Lead will provide line management, coordinate workloads, support team delivery, monitor issues, and ensure production targets, KPIs, and quality standards are met to satisfy customer requirements.

Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support needs, fostering a culture of safety and high standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in running an efficient warehouse operation to meet operational and customer demands.
  • Train new warehouse operatives.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy and proper stock movements.
  • Participate in stock takes and ensure systems are accurate and updated.
  • Identify system improvements and recommend changes.
  • Resolve warehouse issues proactively.
  • Produce reports and support capacity planning.
  • Maintain health and safety standards, manual handling procedures, and equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain security and a clean working environment.
  • Act up for management during absences.

People Management

  • Manage attendance and support people management issues.
  • Communicate priorities and operational requirements.
  • Report progress and concerns to supervisors/managers.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport companies.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Engage and collaborate with team members, contribute to team development, and uphold integrity and honesty.
  • Participate in grievance and disciplinary processes.
  • Monitor performance and conduct welfare meetings.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven leadership in a warehouse environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good IT skills, including spreadsheets, databases, and warehouse systems.
  • Analytical, numerical, and planning skills.
  • Attention to detail and understanding of customer deliverables.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Warehouse qualification (advantageous).
  • Certified in Dangerous Goods Handling.
  • Supervisory qualification (beneficial).
  • Experience supervising and motivating teams.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and security requirements.
  • Lean techniques knowledge (advantageous).
  • Fork Lift Truck license (may be required).
