Role: Warehouse Team Leader Location: Mercia Park, Unit 5 (DE12) Days/Shifts: Mon‑Fri 14:00‑22:00 (37.5 per week)
What will you be doing?
- Oversee warehouse operations to fulfil customer demand and meet business targets.
- Train and develop warehouse operatives within your area.
- Ensure accurate stock records, inventory management, and regular stock takes.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate computerised or automated systems.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement recommendations.
- Address and resolve warehouse issues efficiently.
- Prepare regular reports and statistics as required.
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained, and manual handling procedures are followed.
- Manage warehouse security and maintain a clean, organised environment.
- Manage team attendance and support the resolution of people management issues.
- Communicate operational priorities, targets, and requirements to the team.
- Monitor performance, conduct return‑to‑work interviews, and provide welfare support.
- Participate in grievance and disciplinary processes as needed.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport companies when required.
- Step up to cover management duties during absences or leave.
About You
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Team Leader with the ability to motivate and supervise a team.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in IT systems, especially spreadsheets, databases, and warehouse systems.
- Analytical, numerical, and detail‑oriented.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and security requirements.
- Understanding of customer deliverables and lean techniques (advantageous).
- Relevant qualifications (e. g., NVQ Level 2, Dangerous Goods Handling, or a supervisory qualification).
- Fork Lift Truck Licence is beneficial.
