The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of warehouse and office facilities within a fast‑paced logistics environment. This role oversees maintenance activities, manages contractors and leads on‑site teams to support business continuity and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Facilities & Building Maintenance: Lead day‑to‑day maintenance operations across warehouse and office facilities. Ensure building fabric (floors, walls, roofing, docks, doors, etc.) is maintained to a high standard. Manage planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive works via the Planon system.
- Equipment & Infrastructure: Oversee maintenance of critical infrastructure, including dock levellers, roller doors, HVAC, lighting, plumbing and electrical systems. Coordinate specialist contractors for servicing and statutory inspections. Minimise operational disruption during maintenance activity.
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and internal standards. Maintain statutory inspection records (e.g. fire alarms, emergency lighting, lifts). Conduct regular site inspections and manage permit‑to‑work processes. Oversee waste management suppliers and contractor inductions.
- Contractor, Budget & Team Management: Manage external contractors and suppliers through Planon, ensuring value for money and service quality. Identify cost‑saving opportunities and approve invoices. Supervise on‑site maintenance staff, reception and cleaning teams, providing guidance and workload planning.
- Documentation & Audit: Maintain accurate, audit‑ready maintenance records. Support internal and external audits as required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in facilities or maintenance supervision.
- Proven contractor management experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of facilities and building maintenance.
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
- Health & Safety qualification (IOSH / NEBOSH desirable).
- Experience within a warehouse or logistics environment (preferred).
- Organised, solutions‑focused and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive and hands‑on leadership style.
- Detail‑oriented with strong commercial awareness.
- Calm, resilient and effective under pressure.
