Tender Manager

DSV is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Tender Manager to join our team in the third-party logistics (3PL) sector. This role is pivotal in identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and driving sales growth through strategic proposals and innovative solutions.

Reporting to the General Manager Tender Management UK & IE, the Tender Manager will lead the entire tender process, from opportunity identification to proposal submission. Responsibilities include ensuring timely, high-quality proposals that meet client needs, managing tender budgets and resources, and ensuring compliance with all RPF guidelines. Essential skills include proven tender management experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and effective leadership within a matrix structure.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Build relationships with new clients and assess their needs.

  2. Lead and oversee the end-to-end tender process, including analyzing tender documents, preparing pricing proposals, and delivering customer presentations.

  3. Coordinate with sales, solution design, operations, legal, finance, and other teams to address all aspects of a tender.

  4. Maintain comprehensive tender documentation, including files, communication records, and pricing data.

  5. Develop effective bidding strategies, manage resources, and ensure client requirements are met.

  6. Create accurate bid documents in compliance with guidelines, coordinating with stakeholders.

  7. Provide regular updates on tender progress and outcomes to internal stakeholders.

  8. Engage with suppliers to secure favorable costs and terms.

  9. Develop and implement pricing strategies aligned with business goals and market conditions.

  10. Drive bid responses, challenging solutions, IT, and costs to meet customer needs within DSV’s parameters.

  11. Monitor and evaluate bid performance to identify improvement areas.

  12. Lead negotiations during tender processes to maintain a competitive advantage.

  13. Utilize DSV’s CRM, Dynamics, to track performance and report results.

  14. Guide new business implementations and stay updated on industry trends and innovations.

Required Capabilities and Competencies

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a bid or tender manager or similar role.

  • Experience managing bids for complex projects or large contracts.

  • Proven success in winning bids through effective proposal management.

  • Deep understanding of the tender lifecycle, proposal writing, and contract negotiation.

  • Sector-specific knowledge and the ability to inspire trust and respect.

  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and time management skills.

  • Ability to influence effectively within a matrix organization.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with engaging presentation abilities.

  • Understanding of activity-based costing models.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
