DSV Road is recruiting for a BMS Manager to oversee all International Import, Export and UK Domestic Inbound & Outbound transport movements at our Mercia Park depot. This is a key operational and people management role, supporting our position as an Inland Clearance Depot post-EU membership. DSV Road acts as an Inland Clearance Depot for imports and exports. Shipments arriving from, or destined for, EU countries require customs clearance before transport can be arranged.
What will you be doing?
- Oversee the checking of documentation for import arrivals and the creation of documentation for export trailers leaving the UK.
- Ensure all HMRC (ETSF/Customs) documentation is prepared correctly and in line with current regulations.
- Provide clear and timely instructions to depots regarding cargo release and movement.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external customers regarding documentation and clearance status.
- Use IT systems to interface with HMRC and monitor the clearance status of shipments.
- Maintain accurate records of customs clearance and ensure all systems are kept up to date.
- Manage, motivate and support a team of 12–14 staff, including holiday planning, sickness management, annual reviews and structured progression plans.
- Ensure full legislative and operational compliance at all times.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment in line with statutory requirements.
- Prepare and distribute accurate documentation to Warehouse, Haulage, Distribution and Shipping teams in a timely manner.
- Maintain awareness of transport and HM Customs regulations, ensuring all statutory obligations are met.

- Highly organised, punctual and detail‑oriented individual.
- Strong IT skills and confidence working with multiple systems.
- Excellent communication skills with colleagues and external customers.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced operational environment.
- Previous knowledge of customs processes or systems is desirable, but not essential (full training provided).
- A proactive team leader who can add further quality and structure to an already efficient and focused team.
- Full UK Driving licence as travel to other UK sites is required.
