We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised Logistics Operator to join our team. You will be coordinating road freight movements through UK ports for a base of long-term, valued customers. Energy and willingness to learn matter more than industry background — if you are great with customers, enthusiastic and organised, we want to hear from you.
What will you be doing?
- Coordinating road shipment movements via UK ports, both imports and exports.
- Acting as the key point of contact for an established portfolio of long-term customers, delivering a reliable and responsive service.
- Making freight bookings, and raising, checking and approving freight charges and costs accurately.
- Liaising with carriers, shipping lines and port contacts to ensure smooth, on-time movements.
- Providing out-of-hours cover in alignment with ferry sailing times.
- Contributing to process improvements — we welcome fresh eyes and better ways of doing things.
- Assisting with other teams as and when needed.
About You
- Experience in a customer-facing and/or coordination role — logistics background is a plus.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
- Enthusiastic, proactive and keen to take ownership.
- Strong communicator, confident dealing with customers and suppliers by phone and email.
- Use initiative to proactively solve problems.
- Good attention to detail, especially around accurate booking entry, charges and cost approvals.
- A knowledge of customs procedures would be beneficial.
- Happy with providing out-of-hours support.
