Purpose of the Role
Working as part of a small team, the Samples Assistant is responsible for accurately weighing, preparing, labelling and packing food flavouring samples to meet customer requirements and fulfil orders. The role requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, while ensuring all work is completed efficiently and in accordance with operational procedures, food hygiene standards and health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately weigh and prepare food flavouring samples for both external and internal customers in accordance with customer requirements and established procedures.
- Ensure customer orders are completed within required timescales and priorities.
- Ensure sample labels and associated documentation accurately reflect product, batch/lot and other required traceability information.
- Handle food flavourings and packaging materials safely and in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of sample pots, buckets, boxes and other consumables required for the preparation and dispatch of samples.
- Carry out regular cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records and identify any stock discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organized working area in accordance with food hygiene, health and safety and housekeeping standards.
- Follow all relevant company procedures and report any quality, stock or operational issues to the appropriate person.
- Assist the wider team with shipping, production and other operational activities as required.

- A proactive approach, with the ability to use initiative and identify when support or action is required.
- Minimum Level qualifications – good GCSE or A Level.
- Experience of working in a laboratory would be beneficial, but not essential.
