Role Overview
Operating from the mindset of asset managers with Fine Wine expertise, DSJ Global have partnered with a reputable Retailer that are seeking an experienced Senior Portfolio Advisor with a strong investment background and a genuine interest in Fine Wine as an alternative asset class. This role sits at the intersection of wealth management, portfolio construction, and tangible luxury assets. You will work closely with high‑net‑worth individuals and sophisticated investors to build, manage, and grow fine wine portfolios aligned with their financial objectives.
A strong requirement for advisory credentials, commercial acumen, and the ability to translate wine market dynamics into clear investment insights.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Portfolio Management
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing guidance on fine wine portfolio construction, optimisation, and long‑term performance.
- Build tailored portfolios aligned to clients’ risk profiles, time horizons, and broader investment strategies.
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews, performance updates, and rebalancing recommendations.
- Support onboarding of new clients, explaining the fine wine investment thesis in a clear, credible, and compliant manner.
Investment Analysis & Strategy
- Analyse fine wine market trends, pricing data, liquidity, and regional performance across top appellations and producers.
- Contribute to investment strategies, allocations, and vintage selection using a disciplined, investment‑led approach.
- Collaborate with internal investment teams on sourcing, pricing, and portfolio construction methodologies.
- Monitor macroeconomic factors and alternative asset trends impacting fine wine.
Relationship Management
- Develop long‑term client relationships built on trust, transparency, and consistent delivery.
- Work alongside sales, operations, and investment colleagues to ensure an excellent end‑to‑end client experience.
- Support retention and upsell through thoughtful portfolio recommendations and proactive communication.
Governance & Best Practice
- Ensure all client interactions and recommendations align with regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of advice and portfolio decisions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of advisory processes and investment frameworks.
Required Experience & Skills
Essential
- Proven background in investments, wealth management, asset management, or a related financial advisory role.
- Experience constructing and managing client portfolios, ideally including alternative assets.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort with performance metrics, risk assessment, and asset allocation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence advising sophisticated investors.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to balance client outcomes and business growth.
Desirable
- Prior exposure to alternative assets such as collectibles, commodities, art, or luxury investments.
- Knowledge of, or strong interest in, the Fine Wine market (e.g. Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, top New World producers).
- Investment or finance qualifications (e.g. CFA, IMC, CISI, or equivalent).
- Experience in a high‑growth, entrepreneurial, or fintech environment.
