Senior Business Development Manager - Healthcare & Time Critical Logistics

Location: UK or Ireland (Remote, with travel across the UK & Western Europe)

The Opportunity

An international logistics provider is investing heavily in its commercial growth strategy across the UK & Ireland and is seeking an experienced Senior Business Development Manager to drive expansion within the healthcare, medical technology and life sciences sectors.

The business specialises in highly customised, time-critical logistics solutions supporting complex and high-value supply chains across the UK and Europe. With strong capabilities in specialist transport, on-demand logistics, warehousing, fulfilment and critical spare parts distribution, the organisation has built a reputation for delivering mission-critical solutions where service reliability and speed are paramount.

This is a strategic growth hire with a significant level of autonomy, visibility and long-term career potential. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, building a robust sales pipeline and securing high-margin logistics contracts across healthcare and adjacent specialist sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan across the UK & Ireland.
  • Generate new opportunities with NHS trusts, private hospitals, clinics, medical device manufacturers, life sciences organisations and other high-value supply chain customers.
  • Build relationships with senior stakeholders across procurement, supply chain, logistics and operations functions.
  • Drive new revenue growth through consultative solution selling.
  • Manage a sales pipeline with a typical sales cycle of 4-6 months.
  • Conduct approximately 15 customer meetings per week via phone, Teams and face-to-face meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with operational and solution design teams to develop bespoke customer solutions.
  • Identify opportunities across related sectors including aerospace, automotive, engineering and other time-critical environments.
  • Travel across the UK, Benelux, DACH and Western Europe as required.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven success in business development, sales or commercial leadership within logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain or specialised transportation.
  • Experience selling solutions into healthcare, medtech, life sciences, critical parts logistics or other complex B2B environments.
  • Strong track record of winning new business and developing strategic customer relationships.
  • Experience managing longer sales cycles and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Ability to engage decision makers across multiple European markets.
  • Commercially driven with strong pipeline generation and prospecting capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK and Europe.

Highly Desirable

  • Time-critical logistics experience.
  • Experience selling solutions relating to healthcare logistics, medical devices, laboratory services, critical spares or specialist transportation.
  • Existing relationships within healthcare, life sciences or medtech markets.
  • Additional European language skills.
  • Knowledge of DACH and Benelux markets.

Success Measures

  • Build a high-quality pipeline within the first 6 months.
  • Develop strategic opportunities capable of supporting long-term revenue growth.
  • Deliver annual gross profit targets in excess of Β£600,000.
  • Maintain healthy deal margins of approximately 25-30%.
  • Establish a strong presence within healthcare and specialist logistics sectors.

  • Ability to engage and influence senior decision-makers across procurement, supply chain, operations and executive leadership teams.
  • Skilled in pipeline generation, solution selling, territory development and long-term account growth.
  • Experience managing consultative sales cycles with multiple stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, commercially driven and comfortable operating autonomously in a remote environment.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe as required.
  • Healthcare, MedTech, Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical logistics experience.
  • Time-critical, mission-critical or specialist logistics sales experience.
  • Knowledge of sectors including medical devices, critical spare parts, aerospace, automotive or high-value transportation.
  • Existing network within healthcare providers, manufacturers or life sciences organisations.
  • Additional European language capabilities.
  • Experience operating across DACH, Benelux or wider Western European markets.
