Opportunity to join a leading national transport and logistics business at their strategic site in the North West, responsible for a multi-site operation across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to join an expanding business at an exciting time as they continue their growth path through strategic acquisition and organic development. They have grown considerably over the past 10 years and are now one of the leading transport and logistics businesses in the UK covering a wide range of verticals including industrial, FMCG and foodstuffs.
Due to this expansion, they are now seeking an experienced compliance director to manage all aspects of the role including:
- Regulatory oversight: Design, implement, and maintain compliance systems across transport, warehousing, import/export, customs, health monitor and report corrective actions; maintain compliance scorecards and KPIs.
- Training: Cultivate a proactive compliance culture through periodic sessions, communications, and leadership briefings.
- Incident management: Investigate compliance incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and monitor resolution and mitigation plans; serve as the escalation point.
- Regulatory liaison: Act as the primary contact with regulators (DVSA, HSE, ICO, Customs HMRC) and manage inspections and statutory reporting.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Coordinate with operations, finance, HR, legal, and IT to ensure aligned and effective compliance measures.
- Team leadership: Manage a small team (e.g., Compliance Officer/Manager, Auditors); oversee budgeting, forecasting, and performance reviews.
Required Qualifications: Professional qualification (e.g., IIPQ, ICSA) preferred. Extensive experience with at least 3 in a senior compliance role—ideally within logistics, transport, or supply chain. Strong regulatory knowledge: transport compliance (O-Licence, drivers’ hours), health.
