Overview
The Despatch Manager is responsible for the safe and effective day to day management of the despatch department, including transport and fork lift trucks, and to take charge of any issues occurring within the department while on shift. A key focus to be placed on operating efficiently with health and safety being at the forefront of any task carried out.
Main Duties

Liaise with Supply Chain Manager on a daily basis to discuss/resolve any issues

Actively participate in improvement initiatives

Ensure, that all transport requirements are met

Take overall responsibility for departmental Health & Safety
-
Ensure an adequate communication exists between Despatch, Customers, and between Despatch and internal departments.

Manage production of daily picking lists for each customer order placed and ensure that the internal and external warehouses are aware of requirements.

Manage production of daily delivery Manifest to inform haulier and warehouse staff of collection and delivery times for each customer’s requirements

Monitor stocks of pallets required internally and for finished goods, re-order with suppliers to ensure safe levels are maintained.

Carry out appropriate purchasing function required by the business to ensure efficient supply chain is maintained.

Identify and populate staff training matrix to ensure staff are multi skilled in all departments

Transport rates management and identifying opportunities to remove any premium rate transport.

Maintaining awareness of Brexit implications, identifying potential costs associated with exporting goods and minimising while managing compliance.

Required to identify and report any defective equipment and department safety hazards to the relevant manager.

Required to follow all safety instructions for any equipment used.

Ensure that all walkways and emergency exits are kept clear.

Required to follow fire alarm/evacuation instructions.

Familiar with all stop devices and procedures on any equipment in your charge.

Assist in any corrective actions required to improve Health and Safety standards in your area.
Quality Standards

Be aware of the quality of standards and limits detailed in the Quality Procedures for your area of work.

Be aware of the location of Quality Procedure documentation available for reference.

Be aware of your joint responsibility for the quality of product produced.

With the team ensure housekeeping is maintained during the shift to the highest possible standards.

Assist in any corrective actions to improve the housekeeping standard of your area of work.
