Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional with strong CDM expertise? We are seeking a confident and proactive HSER specialist to support the delivery of a high-profile project, ensuring full compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM). This role is central to safeguarding people, processes, and project delivery — embedding safe design and construction principles at every stage.
To provide competent Health & Safety support to the site HSER function for a 6-month period, specifically supporting the delivery and compliance of a Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) project. The role will ensure CDM compliance across all stages of the project lifecycle, supporting the Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor in meeting statutory obligations. The successful candidate will promote safe design and construction practices, ensure documentation compliance, and support effective risk management throughout the project.
Role Responsibilities- Support fulfilment of Client duties under CDM regulations
- Ensure robust arrangements for planning, managing, and monitoring construction work
- Review and maintain CDM documentation including Construction Phase Plans, Pre-Construction Information, and Health & Safety Files
- Liaise with Principal Designer and Principal Contractor to coordinate HSER activities
- Lead and support risk reviews to eliminate or reduce hazards so far as reasonably practicable
- Conduct inspections and audits to monitor CDM compliance on site
- Review and approve RAMS and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
- Support incident, accident, and near-miss investigations with corrective action tracking
- Lead development and implementation of risk assessments related to project assets
- Act as a key CDM contact for contractors, operations, and project stakeholders
- Provide HSER input during project meetings
- Track and report CDM and HSER compliance metrics
- Maintain accurate project documentation and audit trails
- Prepare HSER reports for senior leadership
You are a confident HSER professional with proven CDM project experience and the ability to influence safe behaviours in a construction environment. You bring strong technical knowledge, sound judgement, and the confidence to challenge where necessary.
- NEBOSH General and Construction Certificates
- Demonstrable experience supporting CDM projects
- Strong working knowledge of CDM regulations and HSER legislation
- Experience reviewing RAMS and Construction Phase Plans
- Ability to build effective relationships across operational and contractor teams
- Confidence to challenge unsafe practices professionally
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Experience supporting investigations and reporting
- Experience collaborating with regulatory or external bodies
- Understanding of sustainability, environmental, and risk management principles
