DS Smith's Kemsley Paper Mill is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering Department. This is a key leadership role responsible for the reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement of the site-wide electrical infrastructure. You will also play a critical role in driving improvements and developing the site's electrical systems to support operational excellence.
This position includes responsibilities as the Electrical Duty Holder and Site-appointed HV Senior Authorised Person.
- Lead and supervise electrical maintenance activities across site, ensuring safe and effective delivery of work.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory and legal requirements, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, supporting risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), and incident investigations.
- Manage and continuously improve the site electrical isolation systems and processes.
- Ensure all electrical systems are compliant with ATEX standards and DSEAR regulations.
- Drive the development and delivery of electrical projects from concept through to completion.
- Manage maintenance and project budgets, including forecasting and cost control.
- Utilise SAP (CMMS) to plan, track, and optimise maintenance activities and workflows.
- Mentor and develop engineers and apprentices, building capability across the team.
- Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota and support operational teams when required.
Degree-qualified (BEng or MEng) in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industrial experience.
Experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment, including time in a senior role.
Strong technical knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems, maintenance strategies, and compliance requirements.
Experience of managing budgets and understanding the commercial impact of engineering decisions.
Competent in the use of CMMS systems such as SAP for maintenance planning and execution.
