We are seeking a motivated and experienced Class 1 Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) driver to join our team in Chertsey. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating cargo efficiently across various routes including airport. Working 5 days a week on a three-week shift pattern with 1 Saturday a month.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 HGVs, following all traffic laws and company policies.
- Load and unload.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle inspections in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues promptly to ensure vehicle safety and reliability.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving within a heavy vehicle.
- Familiarity with load & unload procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for clear interaction with team members and clients.
- Ability to navigate route driving efficiently using GPS or other navigation tools.
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues.
- Experience with arctic with rollerbed is a plus.
