I am currently looking for an experienced Geo-environmental Engineer to join my client's Remediation & Construction Support division. The successful candidate will be primarily involved in the supervision of remediation and earthworks projects, acting as a full-time Resident Engineer where required. My client is a successful consultancy operation across the North of England and they are looking to strengthen their team due to the business moving in a positive direction. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years relevant experience and could be working towards chartered status. You will also need a geo-environmental/geo-technical degree and strong IT skills.
A typical day in the role will include the following:
- Supervision of remediation, earthworks and/or mine stabilisation projects
- In-situ geotechnical testing (primarily plate load & CBR tests)
- Geotechnical analysis (bearing capacity, slope stability, working platform design etc)
- Inspection of gas protection measures, particularly for new residential developments
- Soil cover validation & stockpile sampling
- Collection of surface water samples, including use of field monitoring equipment
- Scheduling & interpretation of geotechnical & chemical laboratory testing
- Report writing & reviewing (Geo-environmental Appraisals, Remediation Strategies & Verification Reports)
