We are recruiting registered nurses (RGN, RMN, RNLD), physiotherapists and occupational therapists (OTs) within the UK who have at least one year of post‑qualification experience and a valid registration. This role is a Paramedic Functional Assessor positioned within the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) framework for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Employment & Support Allowance (ESA) benefits.

Applicants will build on their clinical expertise, develop knowledge of a broad range of medical, cognitive and mental health conditions, and enjoy a supportive training programme with over 100 hours CPD protected annually. You will conduct file‑work, face‑to‑face, telephone and video assessments to determine how disability impacts a customer’s day‑to‑day life and work‑related activities. Reports will inform DWP decision makers on benefit claims. The role provides comprehensive training, ongoing revalidation support and opportunities to progress within the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out and manage file‑work, face‑to‑face and telephone/video assessments for PIP and ESA benefit claims.
  • Prepare comprehensive assessment reports to support decision makers at DWP.
  • Apply clinical knowledge to interpret the impact of medical and mental health conditions on daily activities and work ability.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and comply with all regulatory and quality standards.

Requirements

  • One year of post‑registration experience as a nurse, occupational therapist or physiotherapist.
  • Fully registered with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC or equivalent) without restriction or conditions, and holding a valid PIN.
  • Excellent observational and communication skills, with the ability to listen, empathise and investigate thoroughly.
  • Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.
