Overview
In this role you will manage and optimize mission-critical Postgre SQL and Oracle databases to support DRW’s global trading operations.
You will work with the engineering team to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable data platforms across production and non-production environments.
You’ll tune performance, implement backups and replication, and collaborate with development teams to optimize database usage.
The position offers exposure to high-impact, fast-paced environments where robust data infrastructure enables rapid opportunity capture.
You will contribute to resilient architectures and continuous improvement while aligning with DRW’s standards and processes.
Responsibilities
- Proactively manage and optimize Postgre SQL and Oracle database platforms and related OS environments
- Perform database performance and query tuning
- Implement and maintain production and non-production databases
- Perform backups, restores, log shipping, mirroring and replication
- Collaborate with system engineering on installations, configurations, performance tuning and capacity planning
- Work with development teams on database design and usage optimization
- Respond to production and business-critical issues
- Key requirements
- 5+ years of production Postgre SQL database engineering experience
- 5+ years of production Oracle database engineering experience (desired)
- Strong UNIX/Linux skills
- Experience with clustering, replication and mirroring is a plus
- Strong knowledge of database performance tuning and configuration tools
- Strong technical problem-solving skills
- Must be self-motivated with initiative and willingness to take on new challenges
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to different environments
- Understanding of SDLC, source control and change management protocols
