As an experienced Electronics Engineer you will work within a team of skilled design engineers, to supply high quality products and systems to the Defence Industry. The successful candidate will be experienced in translating system requirements to innovative electronic design solutions, leading to successful customer acceptance within project timescales and budget.

What you'll do

  • Responsible for the architectural and detailed design of electronics solutions to meet requirements.
  • Working with other internal design functions, and external suppliers, to develop successful design solutions.
  • Consideration of design for manufacture and test, to ensure smooth transition to production.
  • System integration of solutions, including fault finding.
  • Working with external test houses to demonstrate equipment complies with MoD and European standards, including CE/UKCA marking.
  • Complying with all health and safety requirements and safe practices and procedures operated by the company.
  • Preparation of high-quality documentation and drawings associated with the development lifecycle (e.g. Bill of Materials, schematics and Change Notes), and configuration in accordance with company procedures.
  • Assisting and liaising with project teams on electronic aspects of products and systems.
  • Occasional offsite support to install and maintain products and systems.

What you'll need

  • Degree educated or equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance is essential.
  • Full UK driving license is desirable.
  • Broad electronics design experience in both analogue and digital design techniques such as:
  • Low noise power supply and distribution circuitry.
  • Analogue signal conditioning.
  • Data acquisition topologies.
  • Digital interfacing and control within an FPGA environment.
  • Design for EMC compliance.
  • Experience in all aspects of electronics product design including:
    • Generating design specifications.
    • Producing circuit designs in preparation for external artwork and subcontract manufacture.
    • Design validation and verification at the circuit, sub-system and system level.
    • Design update through change control.
    • Compliance and qualification e.g. UKCA/CE, EMC, Environmental, RoHS, Safety etc.
    • Formal acceptance.
  • Working knowledge of ECAD tools for circuit & PCB design (Cadence OrCAD desirable).
  • Problem solving and fault finding down to component level.
  • Able to work with internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions.
