Working closely with the Lead Medical Practitioner and UKIM’s Senior Management team, the purpose of this role is to lead the provision of a comprehensive, professional Occupational Health Service for UKIM Occupational Health and Wellbeing.

As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will work as an autonomous practitioner, managing your own work as a health professional within Occupational Health & Wellbeing. You will be expected to undertake Occupational Health activities providing professional services and advice in sickness absence management and vocational rehabilitation and provide advisory services for customer employees, managers and new customer clinical on-boarding.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise Occupational Health employees on a day-to-day basis.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and review corporate Occupational Health policies, standards, procedures and guidelines to ensure the provision of an effective service.
  • Oversee all Occupational Health contracts ensuring service delivery and quality assurance.
  • Develop a Clinical Governance programme for employed and contracted nurses and advise on clinical governance requirements for other health professionals associated with UKIM.
  • Support and advise the wider business on obtaining SEQOHS.
  • Develop and grow an independent nurse culture and professional status by career programmes, mentoring and continuous professional development in line with NMC validation.
  • Support the growth of the business by demonstrating and providing a measurable quality service.
  • Initially assess and manage medical referrals to facilitate the corporate attendance management procedures.
  • Provide professional occupational health advice to managers and all employees of the service user on occupational health risk identification, assessment and control.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate risk-based employee health screening, vaccination, and health surveillance programmes as appropriate to the service user.
  • Contribute to training programmes, health promotion strategies and campaigns in relation to Occupational Health issues and attend meetings, consultations and committees as appropriate.
  • Maintain practice standards in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council professional standards and codes of conduct, legislation and best practice.
  • Work closely with Allied Health Professionals and associates of UKIM Network to develop Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
  • Develop and maintain record systems in accordance with legislation and organisational requirements.
  • In collaboration with the Occupational Health Physician, work with Human Resource Advisers / staffing teams to facilitate the corporate attendance management/Vocational Rehabilitation procedures.
  • Such other responsibilities appropriate to the development of the role and service.
