Location: You will be assigned to work primarily in Hemel Hempstead, and at client sites, as required.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day plus a 30-minute lunch.

Annual Leave: 22 days + bank holidays.

All of our clinics and mobile units are equipped to deliver health surveillance assessments, fitness for work assessments, and sickness absence consultations. We have two conveniently located clinics, located in North-West and the South-East of England. We also offer mobile services, using our cutting-edge vans for on-site visits. Our Hemel Hempstead clinic has close links to the M1 and M25.

Job Description: You will work collaboratively with the whole clinic team to meet the needs of clients, supporting the delivery of the full Occupational Health remit. Responsible for case management assessments, health surveillance, vaccinations, drug and alcohol screening, DSE assessments, workplace health assessments, delivering wellbeing clinics, medical stock management and implementing and reviewing policies and procedures. You will travel to client sites, transporting and operating the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), which is fully equipped for medical assessments. Travel is a key aspect of this role, including the occasional overnight stays.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Travelling between client sites in the company surveillance van (paid travel time – included in your working hours).
  • Make professionally autonomous decisions for which you will be accountable.
  • Provide safe, evidence-based, cost-effective, individualised client care.
  • Make appropriate referrals.
  • Help the clinic to develop.
  • Competent in anaphylaxis and resuscitation.
  • Ensuring safe storage, rotation and disposals of vaccines and drugs and that adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Promote health and wellbeing, giving general education advice on diet.
  • Initiate and carry out programmes of health screening as agreed with the clinic clinical team.
  • Enable, support and encourage individuals and groups to address issues which affect their health and social wellbeing.
  • Contribute to the clinic achieving its KPI’s and contracts obligations.
  • Ensure all data protection requirements are met when gathering, recording and storing patient data.
  • Liaise and maintain good working relationships with all members of the clinic team.
  • Work within the multi-disciplinary team within the clinic and the whole company.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant internal and external meetings as required including clinic team meetings and company meetings.
  • Keep up to date with pertinent health policy and work with the clinic team to consider the impact and strategies for implementation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues both internally and externally.
  • Undertake any other duties as necessary.

Person Specification: Must be a registered nurse on the NMC register. Minimum 2 years Occupational health experience. Clinical skills – spirometry, audiometry, HAVS, phlebotomy, administration of vaccines according to the Green Book. Full, clean, UK driving licence (or valid EU licence for the UK). Willingness to travel to different client sites. Willingness to learn and acquire new skills. Evidence of appropriate knowledge base. Experience in implementing protocols and clinical guidelines. Ability to work unsupervised. General IT literacy (e.g. Microsoft Office). Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). Strong organisational and time management skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing circumstances. Strong work ethic and professionalism.
