This role has responsibility for sites across the South West. Reporting to an HR Business Partner, you will work autonomously, managing your own diary and making day-to-day HR decisions. It is a broad generalist role offering the opportunity to contribute to project work and coordinate key activities within larger organisational initiatives.

Role Responsibilities

  • Establish position as first point of contact for HR enquiries and provide timely and effective administrative support to the HR Business Partner and all business unit employees.
  • Support and coach line managers in delivering their line management responsibilities, including absence (long and short term), occupational health input, and management of poor performance of staff.
  • Provide effective administrative support to the business unit HR business partner, managing director and other functional heads of department as appropriate.
  • Assure compliance with legal and company policies and procedures and ensure the Company is protected against risk.
  • Provide HR support and advice to employees and line managers, explaining policies and procedures in a timely and effective manner.
  • Manage the new joiner process from recruitment documentation through to joining instructions and induction.
  • Handle maternity, paternity, adoption parental and other leave processes and queries.
  • Take ownership for the absence management system.
  • Manage the holiday recording system.
  • Provide data for and prepare the monthly management information reports. Check accuracy and integrity of data by running reports and follow up and correct where necessary.
  • Liaise with development and training manager to discuss people issues within the business unit and provide feedback to managers on development and training input which may support and assist.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal service functions and management teams.

Person Specification

  • Must hold a current UK driving licence.
  • Experience in an industrial setting is an advantage.
  • Qualified to minimum CIPD level 3 or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of employment law and best practice together with knowledge and understanding of how this is practically delivered.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, contributing across a project, site or area.
  • Good management skills, with the ability to motivate self and colleagues to perform.
  • Good planning and time management skills; able to manage activities simultaneously without compromising on standards and quality.
