Role Overview

We require experienced Rail and Crane Service Engineers to service a 3-tonne jib crane in a controlled depot environment. The work involves MEWP access, electrical isolation, and strict compliance with permit-to-work and safety systems. This is a safety-critical role requiring disciplined, professional engineers familiar with industrial or depot settings. Engineers will coordinate with site services, security, and nominated persons and must follow agreed RAMS and permits at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service and inspect the jib crane, hoist, and jib arm
  • Re Cabling and Wifi Installation
  • Power cable work (rail)
  • Work at height using a MEWP
  • Carry out electrical isolation, lock-off, and test-for-dead
  • Apply Lock Out / Tag Out (one man, one key, one lock)
  • Work under Permit to Work (working at height and lifting operations)
  • Maintain barriers and exclusion zones below the work area
  • Coordinate MEWP movements with site marshals
  • Function test the crane and complete safe handback
  • Maintain good housekeeping and site sign-off

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience servicing cranes or lifting equipment
  • MEWP licence (IPAF 3a / 3b)
  • Electrical safety competence (safe isolation, test for dead)
  • LOTO and Working at Height training
  • Permit-to-Work experience
  • Comfortable working in industrial or safety-critical environments
  • Safety-first, professional approach

Desirable

  • Rail or depot experience
  • OHL awareness
  • LOLER certification
  • Lead or supervisory experience
