An excellent opportunity at my client in Warrington who are looking for a Senior Haulage Planner to join a growing and fast‑paced transport operation. This is a key leadership role where you'll take ownership of daily haulage planning, support a team of planners and play a major part in driving key operations decisions forward. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy logistics environment, enjoys problem‑solving and is confident managing both people and complex transport operations.

The Role: As Senior Haulage Planner, you will oversee the day-to-day planning of fleet operations, ensuring routes, resources and schedules are managed efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and customer service. You’ll work closely with drivers, customers and senior management to deliver a smooth and reliable transport operation while identifying opportunities to improve performance and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate daily haulage planning across the fleet
  • Manage, support and develop a team of transport planners
  • Allocate loads and optimise routes to maximise efficiency and profitability
  • Monitor fleet utilisation, KPIs and service performance
  • Ensure compliance with driver hours, tachograph and transport legislation
  • Act as the main point of escalation for operational issues and service disruptions
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational improvements
  • Support strategic planning, forecasting and budgeting activities

About You:

My client are looking for a motivated and commercially aware transport professional with strong planning experience and proven leadership skills. You will have:

  • CPC Transport Management qualification
  • Previous experience in a senior haulage or transport planning role
  • Strong knowledge of UK transport regulations and road networks
  • Excellent leadership, communication and decision‑making skills
  • The ability to perform under pressure in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using fleet and logistics systems such as Samsara or Orbcomm
  • Experience managing large-scale or multi‑site transport operations is advantageous
