We are looking for an experienced Technical Business Development Manager to join our Engineering Services (Onshore) team. Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, you will play a key role in developing new business opportunities and strengthening existing client relationships across the onshore electrical engineering sector.

This role focuses on identifying, developing and converting opportunities aligned with our diversified engineering services offering, including low voltage, high voltage, fire & gas, and hazardous area inspection and maintenance.

Key responsibilities:
  • Identify and develop new client opportunities while growing existing accounts
  • Act as the technical lead during early engagement, providing front‑end technical support
  • Prepare, manage and submit technical proposals, tenders and quotations
  • Lead and manage the Engineering Services bid process from opportunity to award
  • Work closely with internal Business Development, Engineering and Marketing teams
  • Maintain accurate opportunity and CRM data, including weighted forecasts
  • Represent the business professionally at client meetings, industry events and exhibitions
  • Provide market, competitor and client intelligence to support growth strategy
  • Travel to client sites across the UK as required
What we’re looking for:
  • Qualified Electrical Engineer with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar technical or business development role
  • Strong technical knowledge across LV/HV systems and electrical engineering standards
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to identify value and cost-saving opportunities for clients
  • Confident interpreting scopes, drawings, specifications and calculations
  • Proven ability to develop technical solutions and convert them into winning proposals
  • Strong communication, planning and organisational skills
  • Self‑motivated, professional and comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • Full UK driving licence
Qualifications (preferred):
  • Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development
  • IEng or CEng registration (desirable, not essential)
  • Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. IET)
