Building Surveyor

Based in Sandwich, Kent Working across Kent & London

Why Drömhus?

Drömhus is a building surveying and project management practice providing RICS-accredited services to residential and commercial clients across Kent and London. Our work ranges from building surveys and defect investigations to project management and external wall assessments.

We're a small firm, and proud of it. That means you won't be one small part of a large machine: your work will be seen, your ideas will be heard, and you'll make a genuine impact on the business from day one. It also means you'll gain breadth of experience that most graduates in larger practices wait years for, with direct support from the people who run the firm.

Key responsibilities

Graduates will start by supporting senior surveyors and build towards running their own instructions;

intermediates will take ownership of their own caseload from the outset.

Surveys and inspections

  • Carry out RICS Level 2 and Level 3 building surveys across a broad range of properties
  • Undertake external wall and cladding inspections (EWS1 and PAS 9980), a pivotal area of our work since Grenfell
  • Investigate defects, damp and condensation, and insurance claims, using drones, thermal imaging and moisture testing
  • Produce clear, accurate reports with practical recommendations

Project delivery

  • Support projects from instruction through to completion
  • Help prepare specifications, schedules of work and tender documents
  • Attend site meetings and inspections, and liaise with clients and contractors

Clients and team

  • Act as a friendly, professional point of contact for clients
  • Manage your diary and workload across multiple live instructions
  • Share knowledge and help improve how we work as the team grows

Graduate Role:

a RICS-accredited degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline (or due to complete one), with a genuine curiosity about how buildings work and why they fail.

Intermediate Role

2–4 years' building surveying experience, confident delivering Level 2 and Level 3 surveys, and ready to take the next step towards chartered status.

You will also have:

  • Your own transport and a full UK driving licence
  • Enthusiasm for being based in Kent, with regular travel into London
  • A collaborative approach, and a wish to be part of a close team that feels like family
  • Clear communication skills, both on site with clients and in written reports
  • Confidence working at height and on active sites (full training provided)

What we offer

  • Investment in your development: we look to sponsor talented individuals through their professional qualifications, with mentoring and a clear plan for your progression towards RICS membership and chartered status
  • Specialist expertise early: PAS 9980 and fire safety training in a field that is in high demand
  • Variety: surveys, cladding, insurance and project management across Kent and London
  • Flexible working arrangements, subject to business needs
  • A great place to work: table tennis, unlimited coffee and a strong team ethos
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • A salary of £28,000 – £39,000 depending on experience, plus company pension and paid holiday
