What does Product Developer mean at Prinova?
At Prinova, a Product Developer plays a key role in transforming customer opportunities into successful, compliant, and commercially viable product solutions.
Using a creative yet methodical mindset, the Product Developer scopes, develops, and plans effective project timelines, working closely with customers and sales managers to assess feasibility based on cost, quality, sustainability goals, and regulatory requirements of the launch market.
The role supports a diverse project portfolio including nutritional vitamin premixes for human and pet nutrition, ready-to-mix supplements, functional powders, energy drinks, and ready-to-drink beverages.
Product Developers collaborate cross‑functionally to deliver projects on time, contribute hands‑on to laboratory development where required, manage prototype submissions, and ensure clear communication of feedback and next steps.
They proactively identify and mitigate development risks while driving continuous improvement across the end-to-end product development and implementation process.

Responsibilities
- Lead thorough research to develop well-rounded concepts in a timely manner, considering cost of use of ingredients, final packaging, complimentary flavour systems, and production capabilities.
- Develop project timelines to hold key stakeholders accountable to key project responsibilities.
- Continuously build expertise on functional ingredients, nutrients and keep up to date with trending flavour profiles and trending sports and nutritional products in the market.
- Design innovative solutions using Prinova’s extensive portfolio of flavours and active ingredients.
- Design robust active ingredient blends based on their efficacy, functional properties and organoleptic profile while meeting the customer’s brief.
- Ensure regulatory compliance for ingredients being used in concepts based on the country the product will be marketed in.
- Lead implementation of signed off concepts by updating internal systems.
- Consider the role of the final packaging in the product shelf life based on industrial experience.
- Where applicable, use our development lab to create delicious tasting concepts for customer submissions and assess raw materials.
- Sign off on flavour prototypes to be submitted to customers.
- Make informed decisions about the product shelf life based on the ingredient list, method of manufacture and final product packaging, to advise the customer with a suggested product shelf life on the powder blend.
- Collaborate with relevant sales managers to manage customers expectations.
- Brief suppliers when a project calls for a new or improved ingredient and ensure a new ingredient approval is completed in a timely manner.
- Provide formulation and nutrition support to all sections of the business and customers.
- Provide technical inputs for supplier raw material approval.
- Assist in creating exciting innovations for tradeshows to showcase Prinova’s capabilities.
- Where required, attend first production to ensure the manufacturing site fully understands the specification that the product must be produced to.
- Where required, assist in advising quality assurance checks postproduction.
- Attend trade shows to understand the market and develop customer and supplier relationships.
Qualifications
BSc/ MSc in Food Science, Chemistry or related field.
- 2‑3 years working in development – Practical understanding of food safety, food quality and GMP.
- Excellent tastebuds and a good understanding of ingredient functionality, including but not limited to vitamins, minerals, flavours, colours, covering additives, and sweeteners and in the development and manufacture of premixes, nutritional products, or supplements.
- Efficient working method with effective prioritising skills – able to work on multiple projects and manage various timelines.
- Effective communicator of technical information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Creative mindset and passionate about food and drink.
