The Opportunity
We are delighted to be supporting a leading organisation within the food manufacturing industry in the appointment of a Beverage Technologist.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced beverage formulation professional to join an innovative applications team, developing new and commercially successful beverage products in response to customer briefs.
You will play a key role in transforming customer requirements and creative flavour concepts into innovative, technically robust and commercially viable finished products.
Working closely with applications, creative, sales, procurement and wider global teams, you will help deliver solutions that win new business and strengthen customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently lead beverage development projects from brief through to successful completion.
- Develop innovative beverage formulations that meet customer, technical, regulatory and commercial requirements.
- Evaluate flavours across a range of beverage applications and select the most appropriate solutions.
- Work closely with creative teams to bring new flavour concepts to life in finished applications.
- Support customer presentations, technical meetings and working sessions.
- Participate in sensory panels and assess product suitability and performance.
- Maintain and develop flavour performance data through finished-product evaluation and profiling.
- Ensure accurate traceability and documentation of application recipes and project work.
- Collaborate with UK and global colleagues to ensure projects are delivered effectively and to customer expectations.
- Support research projects, portfolio evaluations and new raw material assessments.
- Work with procurement and other technical teams to evaluate and introduce new raw materials.
- Contribute ideas and technical expertise to the development of innovative application concepts.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised laboratory environment in line with relevant EH&S and HACCP requirements.
- Share knowledge and best practice with colleagues and contribute to the continual development of the wider team.
- Be prepared to travel occasionally to international facilities when required.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking an experienced Beverage Technologist who combines strong technical formulation expertise with creativity, commercial awareness and excellent communication skills.
Essential experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Beverage Technologist or in an equivalent formulation/development role within manufacturing or the flavour industry.
- Demonstrable experience of beverage formulation and product development.
- Experience working within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of flavour application and beverage development.
- Ability to independently manage projects, priorities and deadlines.
- Confidence communicating with colleagues, customers and stakeholders at different levels.
- Relevant scientific, food science or technical background.
Desirable
- Relevant degree or higher-level qualification.
- Experience working to recognised quality standards such as ISO or BRC.
- Experience working within a flavour house or ingredients environment.
- Experience presenting technical concepts to customers.
