About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Specification Technologist on a 12 month fixed-term contract.

Salary

£40,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 08:30–17:00

Friday: 08:30–16:00

This is a hybrid role with occasional travel requirements. Access to your own transport is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete and maintain customer specifications and online portal information in accordance with customer requirements, including raw materials, packaging, and legal compliance.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Technical, and Packaging teams to ensure accurate and up-to-date supplier information for raw materials and packaging is obtained and maintained.
  • Manage the specification administration process throughout the product lifecycle, from concept through to product delisting.
  • Ensure compliance with current food labelling legislation, customer codes of practice, and relevant policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and complete documentation to support product development activities and wider business requirements.
  • Assist with artwork approval and amendments to ensure packaging complies with legal, customer, and industry standards.
  • Provide support during customer and third‑party audits, offering expertise on product specifications where required.
  • Promote safe working practices and promptly report any unsafe conditions or behaviours.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

Essential Experience

  • Experience using customer specification systems within the food industry.
  • Food manufacturing experience.
  • HACCP and Food Safety training.
  • Experience managing critical paths and project timelines.

  • Strong planning, organisational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Confident presentation and interpersonal skills.
