As the Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager, you will be the cornerstone of the company’s commitment to uncompromising quality and feed safety.
You will lead and develop a dedicated quality team, ensuring full compliance with all relevant feed safety legislation while consistently exceeding customer expectations and industry standards. Your strategic vision and meticulous approach will ensure quality principles are embedded throughout the entire value chain — from raw material intake to final product delivery — maintaining a unified and robust quality framework across all operational sites. This role is based at the company’s Lincolnshire site.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Quality Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive quality strategy aligned with business objectives. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence across all sites and product categories.
- Compliance & Assurance Leadership: Ensure full compliance with all relevant feed safety legislation and manage key assurance schemes and certifications. Proactively monitor regulatory and scheme updates to maintain best practices and protect certifications and reputation.
- Customer Standard Integration: Collaborate with commercial teams and customers to understand and integrate specific quality requirements. Lead updates to the Quality Management System (QMS) and operational procedures to meet customer and industry standards.
- HACCP System Leadership: Take overall responsibility for developing, maintaining, and improving the HACCP system, ensuring effective hazard identification and control.
- Feed Safety Management: Own all aspects of feed safety, including prevention, incident management, and communication with authorities and stakeholders.
- Consistent Quality Framework: Establish a unified quality framework ensuring consistency across offices, production sites, and other operational areas.
- Customer-Centric Quality: Champion customer satisfaction by ensuring all products consistently meet and exceed agreed specifications and benchmarks.
- Complaint Resolution Excellence: Oversee timely and thorough investigations of customer complaints, drive root cause analysis, and implement preventative actions.
- Non-Conformance Management: Lead the resolution of internal, supplier, and customer non-conformances with effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Quality Management System Stewardship: Maintain and continuously improve the QMS to ensure consistent quality throughout all manufacturing and delivery processes.
- Internal Audit Oversight: Manage internal audits to identify improvements and promote proactive quality management.
- Supplier Quality Assurance: Build strong supplier relationships and implement robust quality programs for all incoming materials.
- Feed Quality Assurance: Work closely with nutritionists to ensure formulation quality, nutritional accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
- Team Leadership and Development: Inspire, mentor, and develop the quality team to achieve high performance and engagement.
- Data-Driven Quality Improvement: Utilize quality data and metrics to identify trends, report performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver quality-related training tailored to specific site requirements.
- External Audits and Inspections: Lead and coordinate external audits and inspections, ensuring successful outcomes and maintaining the company’s reputation.
The Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Food Science, Chemistry, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years' experience in a senior quality management role within the feed or closely related industry.
- Strong understanding of feed safety legislation and quality standards; experience with BRC, GMP+, FEMAS, or UFAS is advantageous.
- Proven success developing and maintaining effective Quality Management Systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
- Strong communication and influencing abilities across all levels of the organization.
