Duties
- Safely operate ambulance vehicles under various conditions, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols
- Transport patients from accident scenes or homes to hospitals or clinics promptly and securely
- Assist paramedics by providing support during patient loading, unloading, and care transfer processes
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and perform basic maintenance to ensure optimal functioning of the ambulance
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, medical personnel, and emergency responders to coordinate efficient patient care
- Handle heavy lifting when moving stretchers or medical equipment safely and effectively
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, and vehicle condition for compliance and reporting purposes
Experience
- Proven experience as a van driver or commercial driver with a clean driving record
- Prior delivery driver experience or similar roles involving transportation of passengers or goods
- Knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and defensive driving techniques
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members, patients, and emergency responders
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physical demands of the role
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance to identify issues early and ensure vehicle readiness
