Driver Hire/dh Recruitment (Torbay) is recruiting skilled and reliable HGV drivers across all licence categories, Class 1 (C+E), Class 2 (C), and 7.5T (C1), to support a wide range of logistics and transport clients throughout South Devon.
Whether you\’re an experienced professional or a newly qualified driver, we offer flexible shifts, local work, and the opportunity to build a long-term career in professional driving.
Location:
Various assignments are available across South Devon, including Torquay, Paignton, Newton Abbot, Totnes, South Brent, Kingsbridge, Salcombe, and nearby areas.
All sites are easily commutable from Exeter and Plymouth.
Salary:
£16.81 – £21.01 per hour (PAYE Advanced)
Drivers are paid weekly and guaranteed a minimum of 8 hours\’ pay per shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive a Class 1, Class 2, or 7.5T vehicle safely and professionally.
- Complete deliveries throughout Devon, Cornwall, and occasionally further afield.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and complete all relevant paperwork accurately.
- Follow company and legal compliance standards, including tachograph and driver hours regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent both Driver Hire and our clients to a high standard.
- Support safe loading and unloading when required (some manual handling may apply).
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Valid C1, C, or C+E licence.
- Current Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Maximum of 6 penalty points (no DR, DD, or IN offences).
- Willingness to start early and handle physical tasks as required.
- Own transport to access client depots.
- Mobile phone for shift communication.
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a Class 1, Class 2, or 7.5T driver.
- Interest in ongoing or temp-to-perm opportunities.
