We entertain and educate passionate fans of motorsport and engineering by diving deep into technical content like no other. Our videos are conversational and aim to simplify complex engineering concepts, giving our audience a unique perspective on Formula 1 and beyond. Our audience is primarily male, aged 18–35, and from English-speaking countries. They are motorsport enthusiasts and engineering aficionados who appreciate well-crafted, engaging content. About the Role We are looking for an experienced and creative Scriptwriter to join the Driver61 team. You’ll play a key role in crafting high-quality, narrative-driven scripts for our YouTube channel. Working alongside our researcher, founder Scott Mansell (head of creative), and video editors, you will develop scripts that bring complex engineering concepts to life, ensuring they are accessible, entertaining, and true to Driver61’s unique voice. This is a remote role, but candidates based in the UK will have opportunities to join us in our Stratford-upon-Avon office or attend exciting motorsport events. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with Scott and our researcher to brainstorm and develop video ideas. Create detailed outlines and write full-length YouTube scripts (approx. 3,000 words each). Incorporate interview excerpts from technical experts and external contributors into cohesive scripts. Work with the editing team to ensure scripts align with visuals and storytelling objectives. Occasionally conduct interviews with technical experts or assist with background research. What We’re Looking For Skills & Experience: Proven experience in scriptwriting, ideally for YouTube or digital platforms. A strong interest in and understanding of motorsport and engineering (e.g., being able to distinguish between a 2018 and 2019 F1 car). Exceptional storytelling skills with the ability to make complex topics accessible and engaging. Familiarity with YouTube content creation and audience engagement strategies. Strong team collaboration skills and the ability to meet deadlines consistently. Soft Skills Collaborative mindset to work closely with researchers, editors, and creatives. Proactive approach to brainstorming and developing ideas. Detail-oriented, ensuring content accuracy and high quality.
