Driver Support Services are currently recruiting Grab drivers to work in and around the area of Colchester. The Grab Driver ensures that the HGV and grab is operated safely whilst supporting the Civils/Groundworks teams.
- Deliver and collect materials to and from our teams
- Ensure the safety of members of the public and operational staff whilst the HGV is operating
- Assist with the backfill of pipe excavations and trenches in the highway
- Assist with signing, lighting and guarding of works
- Remove construction waste materials to recycling centres and clear sites of debris
Required Skills and Experience:
- Reliable and punctual with good communication skills to ensure team and customer services are delivered
- Full UK Driving Licence with class 2 licence and digi-tacho card
- Physically fit and good with your hands as these roles can be physically demanding, involving bending, lifting and manual handling
- Respect the rules laid down for working safely, ensuring you can follow processes and comply with the requirements of the work, including the wearing of PPE
- Be prepared for outdoor working conditions which may be wet and dirty
- Understand that working hours and travel are not always predictable; adaptability and flexibility are required, with paid overtime working
It's an average of 9 to 10 hours per day with weekends optional when there is work available. We operate under GB Domestic Hours Rules and all drivers must hold Driver CPC Card, Digicard and Lorry Mounted Crane Certification for this position.
