We’re looking for a motivated and organised Technical Sales Assistant to join our Clients growing team. This role is central to supporting our sales function by providing technical advice, preparing quotations, and helping customers find the right solutions for their needs. You’ll work closely with the Sales Manager and wider commercial team, acting as a key link between customers, engineering, and production. The ideal candidate will be keen to learn our products inside out, with a clear pathway to develop into a Technical Sales Engineer or Account Manager role in the future. Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Support: Handle inbound customer enquiries and provide initial technical advice. Prepare and follow up on quotations and sales proposals. Process sales orders and ensure accurate entry into internal systems. Support the field sales team with customer information and documentation.
- Technical Liaison: Develop a strong understanding of manufacturing products and specifications. Liaise with engineering and production teams to ensure customer requirements are clearly communicated. Assist customers in selecting suitable products and configurations. Help resolve technical queries before and after order placement.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers. Proactively follow up leads and opportunities. Communicate order progress, delivery times, and any changes to customers. Support aftersales handover to ensure a smooth customer experience.
- Administration & Reporting: Maintain accurate customer and sales records. Assist with sales reports, pipeline tracking, and forecasting. Support marketing activities, including product literature and promotions.
Essential: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisation and attention to detail. Good IT literacy, particularly Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook). A proactive, customer-focused mindset with a desire to learn technical products. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable: Experience in a sales support, technical, or customer service role. Background in engineering, manufacturing, trailers, plant, or heavy vehicles. Understanding of technical drawings or specifications. Full UK driving licence.
