Front of House Porter Location – The Portland Hospital, Great Portland Street, London Permanent, Full time, 40 hours/week. Monday – Sunday various shifts between 7:00 – 21:30. On the very rare occasion, you may be asked to cover a night shift (20:00 – 8:00). Salary - £30,784 per annum + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development).

We’re looking for a Porter to join our Front of House team based at The Portland Hospital. Working within one of the UK’s leading private healthcare facilities, you’ll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the hospital while helping to deliver an exceptional experience for patients, visitors and colleagues. This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll support departments across the hospital with portering, security, patient transport and logistics duties, helping to ensure services run safely, smoothly and efficiently at all times.

As a Porter you’ll provide professional support across the hospital environment, assisting patients and visitors while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational excellence. From supporting emergency response teams and managing waste streams, to transporting patients and assisting with deliveries across site, your work will make a real difference to the overall patient journey. You’ll become part of a collaborative and supportive team where professionalism, compassion and teamwork are valued every day.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide portering and security support across the hospital including transportation of mail, drugs, specimens and equipment.
  • Assist patients with luggage, room orientation and patient transport throughout the hospital.
  • Support hospital safety procedures including fire response, crash team response and gas bottle monitoring.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean and organised environment including car park management and waste stream handling.

What you’ll bring:

  • Previous experience working within a similar role is essential.
  • A full UK Driver’s license is essential.
  • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy hospital environment.
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures and manual handling.
