HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver required for ongoing work based in Okehampton. This is a hands-on role combining Class 2 driving duties with waste and recycling collection activities. You will work as part of an established crew covering local routes, helping to keep communities clean while enjoying regular weekday work and long-term opportunities. This role would suit an experienced Class 2 Driver who is comfortable with physical work and enjoys being part of a team.

Location: Okehampton, Devon

Salary: £17.37 to £21.72 per hour PAYE Advanced. Other PAYE models are available. Weekly pay. Minimum 8 paid hours per shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving a Class 2 Cat C refuse vehicle on planned waste and recycling collection routes
  • Assisting the collection crew with loading, moving and emptying bins
  • Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks and reporting any defects
  • Completing route paperwork and delivery documentation accurately
  • Following all health and safety procedures, site rules and driver hours regulations
  • Working closely with the wider team to ensure collections are completed efficiently
  • Carrying out manual handling duties as part of the collection process

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Valid Category C Class 2 HGV licence
  • Driver CPC qualification
  • Digital Tachograph card
  • No more than 6 penalty points
  • Ability to travel to the Okehampton depot for early morning starts
  • Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling duties
  • Mobile phone for communication with the team

Desirable:

  • Previous refuse, recycling or waste collection experience
  • Good knowledge of local routes across Devon
