We are seeking a waste team leader in the Newtownabbey area for immediate start.

Duration: 3 Months

Hours of work: 37 hours

Days of Work: Mon – Sun (The shift pattern is a 4 weekly rotation to include 2 weekends in the 4)

Pay: £19.52 ph

Purpose of the Role: To support the efficient delivery of waste management services by supervising frontline operational teams involved in waste collection, street cleansing, recycling centres, bin deliveries, and related environmental services. Responsible for ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively, and in line with legislative and quality standards.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualifications: Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grades A–C), including English and Mathematics, or equivalent qualifications. Alternatively, a minimum of 2 years’ relevant operational experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Experience: At least 1 year’s supervisory experience within waste management, refuse collection, street cleansing, household recycling centres, or a similar operational environment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make operational decisions.
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Windows applications.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Full current driving licence or access to suitable transport to fulfil the duties of the role.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and respond to emergency situations when required.
