We have HGV Class 1 Driver and HGV Class 2 Driver opportunities available in Newton Abbot for experienced drivers looking for flexible part-time work, with additional full-time hours available during busier periods. Driver Hire/dh Recruitment (Torbay & Barnstaple) is recruiting Class 1 and Class 2 drivers to deliver palletised goods throughout the South West using curtain-sider vehicles. This role offers regular ad hoc work with the potential for ongoing assignments for the right drivers.

Location: Newton Abbot, Devon. Easily accessible from Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Paignton, Totnes, South Brent, Kingsbridge, Salcombe and surrounding areas.

Salary: £17.37 to £18.49 per hour PAYE. Other PAYE models are available. Weekly pay. Guaranteed minimum of 8 hours paid per shift. Paid hourly with overtime opportunities through additional shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive HGV Class 1 C+E and HGV Class 2 Category C vehicles safely and professionally.
  • Deliver palletised goods across the South West using curtain sider vehicles.
  • Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
  • Ensure loads are secured and transported safely.
  • Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and collections.
  • Accurately complete delivery paperwork and transport documentation.
  • Follow all transport legislation, company procedures and health and safety requirements.
  • Work Monday to Friday.
  • Start work at 08:00 each day.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Valid UK HGV Class 1 C+E licence and/or HGV Class 2 Category C licence.
  • Valid Driver CPC qualification.
  • Digital Tachograph card.
  • Minimum one year of HGV driving experience.
  • Professional, reliable and safety-focused approach.

Desirable:

  • ADR qualification.
  • Experience operating tail lifts.
  • Previous palletised goods delivery experience.
  • Experience using curtain-sider vehicles.
