Start times: Monday to Friday, 06:30 starts, finishing by 4pm daily

Driver Hire is currently recruiting a reliable and professional Class 2 Trainee HIAB Driver to work with one of our fantastic local clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Class 2 driver who is looking to develop their skills and progress into HIAB work. The role will initially involve Class 2 deliveries, giving you the chance to familiarise yourself with the client’s routes, products, working procedures, and customer base. Once you have completed the initial Class 2 delivery work and are fully familiar with the role, you will then be trained to operate the HIAB trucks.

Our client takes pride in organising great routes and looking after its team. This is not builders’ merchant work, with deliveries made to commercial sites. This is a great opportunity for a Class 2 driver looking for consistent weekday work, excellent pay, training and development, immediate starts, and the option of a permanent position for successful candidates.

The Role

  • Driving Class 2 vehicles safely and professionally
  • Completing Class 2 deliveries to customers and client sites
  • Learning the client’s routes, delivery process, and site procedures
  • After completing the initial Class 2 delivery work, being trained to operate HIAB trucks safely and professionally
  • Completing daily vehicle checks
  • Ensuring paperwork and delivery notes are completed accurately
  • Providing excellent customer service while representing Driver Hire and our client
  • Following all road transport, driver hours and health and safety regulations

Start times are typically 06:30, Monday to Friday, with 30 minutes allocated for safety checks in the morning.

Requirements

  • A valid Class 2 HGV licence
  • Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph card
  • Minimum 1 year’s Class 2 driving experience
  • Be aged 25 or over due to insurance requirements
  • A reliable, professional and safety-focused approach
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Good knowledge of driver hours and working time regulations
  • A willingness to learn and progress into HIAB work
  • HIAB experience is desirable but not essential, as this role is designed for a Class 2 driver who is looking to be upskilled.
