HGV Class 1 Driver and HGV Class 2 Driver positions are available across South Devon. Driver Hire/dh Recruitment (Torbay & Barnstaple) is recruiting experienced and newly qualified Class 1 (C+E) and Class 2 (Category C) drivers for a variety of ongoing assignments with established local businesses throughout Devon and Cornwall. Whether you are looking for full-time work, part-time shifts, temporary assignments, weekend work, or a route into a permanent position, we have opportunities available.

Location
South Devon. Work available across Torquay, Paignton, Newton Abbot, Totnes, South Brent, Kingsbridge, Salcombe and surrounding areas. This position is a road-based role with local and regional routes throughout Devon and Cornwall.

Salary
£16.81 to £21.01 per hour PAYE Advance. Other PAYE models are available. Weekly pay every Friday. Minimum 8 hours’ pay is guaranteed per shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving HGV Class 1 (C+E) articulated vehicles or HGV Class 2 (Category C) rigid vehicles
  • Completing local and regional deliveries across Devon and Cornwall
  • Carrying palletised goods, general haulage, trade deliveries and retail deliveries
  • Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting defects
  • Maintaining delivery paperwork and digital tachograph records
  • Following Drivers’ Hours regulations and site procedures
  • Assisting with loading and unloading where required

Qualifications

Essential

  • Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence or HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
  • Driver CPC qualification
  • Digital Tachograph Card
  • No more than 6 penalty points
  • Reliable transport to reach client depots
  • Ability to work early starts

Desirable

  • Previous HGV driving experience
  • Knowledge of Devon and Cornwall road networks
  • Experience using electronic POD or scanning systems
