We are currently recruiting an experienced C1 / 7.5 Tonne Driver to join the waste & recycling team based in Exeter. This is an ongoing position for the foreseeable future, offering stable hours and a supportive working environment.
You will be responsible for driving a C1 / 7.5 Tonne vehicle across residential routes in Exeter, primarily collecting food waste. This is a physically demanding role involving frequent loading and handling of waste containers. It is not solely a driving job — you will work as part of a small team to complete daily collection rounds safely and efficiently.
Hours & Working Pattern:
- Start time: 06:00
- Average 37 hours per week
- Working 5 days out of 7
- Task and finish team structure
- Catch‑up Saturdays required after Bank Holidays
- Free on‑site parking + secure bicycle storage
You will be expected to:
- Drive a C1 / 7.5 Tonne vehicle safely across residential areas
- Load food waste bins into the vehicle throughout the shift
- Work closely with your crew in a team‑task environment
- Maintain high safety standards for yourself, your team, and the public
Requirements:
- A manual driving licence with C1 entitlement (7.5T)
- A valid Digital Tacho Card
- Full, up‑to‑date CPC
- Minimum 2 years’ experience driving 7.5T or above
- The physical ability to carry out frequent loading tasks
Pay: £14.82 per hour on PAYE Accrued plus £1.78 per hour holiday pay equates to £16.60 per hour on PAYE Advanced. Weekly pay.
