About the Role

Driver Hire Romford are currently recruiting an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver on behalf of a reputable Builder’s Merchant based near Dagenham area. You will be joining a well-established, leading independent UK distributor, acting as the face of the business and delivering a professional, customer-focused service. The role involves the safe transportation, delivery, and offloading of goods using the client’s vehicle-mounted cranes, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Job Specification

  • Safely transport goods and materials to customer sites
  • Carry out multi-drop deliveries, including deliveries into London
  • Load, unload, and secure goods safely
  • Collect products from suppliers and prepare customer orders prior to dispatch
  • Complete all delivery paperwork accurately and on time
  • Build strong working relationships with customers and internal teams
  • Plan routes effectively using local area knowledge
  • Maintain high health & safety standards at all times
  • Ensure vehicles and lifting equipment are used correctly and reported if defective

What You Need

  • A current and valid UK Class 2 (Cat C) Driving Licence
  • Clean UK driving record – maximum of 6 penalty points
  • Up-to-date Driver CPC and Digital Tacho Card
  • Minimum 2 years holding an HGV licence and 9–12 months of commercial Class 2 experience in the UK
  • Strong knowledge of the local and London delivery areas
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • A professional, reliable, and safety-focused attitude
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Own transport to commute to and from the workplace
  • Good level of physical fitness – manual handling involved
  • Punctual, dependable, and flexible
